Sound Mixer Falls To Death In Tragic Accident On Mr. Rogers Biopic Set – Perez Hilton

Such a shocking tragedy…

James Emswiller, an Emmy-winning sound mixer who was working this week on the Mr. Rogers biopic You Are My Friend, has died after what appears to be an accidental fall from the second story of a building during a break from filming.

According to local news station WPXI in Pittsburgh, Emswiller died Thursday night after falling from a balcony where he had been taking a smoke break in between filming scenes for the Tom Hanks-led movie.

Bystanders heard a strange noise at one point, went to investigate, and determined that Emswiller had fallen from the balcony. He was injured severely at that point, and rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead once there.

James had been a sound mixer on a lot of high-profile films in his career, including The Fault In Our StarsFoxcatcherThe AvengersJack Reacher, and more.

He was 61 years old.
